St. Martin of Tours. My grammer school, located on Union Avenue. 1968-1975, president of eighth grade class, Nuns when capital punishment was ok. Commencement speech in the big church. Later, Buddy Toomey’s Pearl Grey Fishing Station, on Ketcham, where I had my first beer over a bar. I won’t mention the age that happened. My first speeding ticket on Grand Central Ave (48 in a 35), basketball practice at the old Northwest school on County Line; Fourth of July fireworks at Amityville beach with the extended family. So many warm memories.
The area south of Montauk Highway has so much charm with the large colonials, the wraparound porches, the tree lined wide boulevards, the quaint canals. I love the immense properties around Avon Lake, taking us back to an earlier simpler time on Long Island.
